Here’s just a quick tease as to the future nighttime look of the new commuter rail train canopy down at Union Station, courtesy of our friends at RTD.
Crews were testing the lighting at the station last night as major construction work continues. No word as to when the canopy will be lit up like this nightly, but for now, “soon” will have to suffice.
The new Union Station Transit Center will open to the public on May 9, 2014 with regular transit service beginning two days later.
Looks great. What, if anything, will be constructed in that huge space in the foreground on the left (the area immediately NW of the train platforms)? I drove by the other day and its a huge empty space with nothing going on.
That’s the B Block site that is zoned to accommodate a tower or two up to about 21 stories in height. There’s been no active proposed project announced for that site yet.
