American National Bank Building

The American National Bank building (once also known as the First National Bank Building) was built in 1911 and was 17th Street’s first “skyscraper” being the first to exceed nine stories. Its facade was covered with concrete panels in the 1960s to “modernize” it and the building sat vacant for most of the 1980s. After a full restoration in 1993, it is now the elegant Magnolia Hotel.
