213 days until the West Corridor opens!

The Perry Station is very similar to the Knox Station – located along Dry Gulch, no parking, and also within very close to surrounding homes (though not as close as the Knox Station). The station is nearing completion, as is the rest of the corridor.

There was a lot of floodwater mitigation work that had to be completed along this section of the rail corridor to avoid potentially dangerous flooding situations. As you can see below, all of that mitigation work has been completed, resulting in a wider floodplain. Combined with the previously detailed reconstruction and widening of the box culverts below both Perry and Knox Streets, transit riders can feel confident that heavy rain situations won’t put them in any danger.

The platform itself looks very similar to that at the Knox Station, which we looked at last week. The lights, railings, canopy structures, trash cans, and newspaper bins  all look identical to those found along most of the rest of the corridor.

Bike riders will be happy to know that the stations along the West Corridor will all have bicycle amenities as part of the RTD Bike-n-Ride system. The Perry Station’s bike racks and bike lockers have already been installed.

Time for a little before and after with the Perry Station to show it’s evolution.

Next post, we’ll take a look at one of the largest stations along the West Corridor – the Sheridan Station.
